We're immortal. We get new bodies on a regular basis (well, those of us who tend to get exploded) So why would we ever need (or ever get) cybernetic arms?
I can see perhaps, if they were to give some form of advantage over a normal arm.
Scars I can see, as we collect scars throughout our lives and they may be reminders for some folks. A complete arm seems a bit harsh.
I'm not sure a lot of folks would consider keeping a false replacement arm as a memento, if they had the option for a brand spanking (pun intended) new arm.
But then, I suppose, I could always sell my free one.
They're handy for opening bottles? They have a lighter built in? You like the way they look?
It's not like you're going to have to live through the implantation and recovery stage. Steve Ronuken for CSM 9!-á I'm starting early :) Handy tools and an SDE conversion Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

I'd blame tax. Both VAT/sales tax, and corporation taxes. Steve Ronuken for CSM 9!-á I'm starting early :) Handy tools and an SDE conversion Twitter: @fuzzysteve on Twitter |

Sales tax in Iceland is much higher though so, it probably about evens out. Germany (random country in the Eurozone) is in between on both.
It's being sold by a corporation in the US, and by, probably, a different corporation (tax wise) in Germany.
So they'll be paying taxes in the respective countries.
The sales tax in the US isn't included on the $150 (I hate that about the US), and you're expected to pay it to your state (fat chance most of the time) when buying from the internet, across state lines.
